Nessun Dorma is an aria from Puccini’s Turandot. It was made famous in the 1990s by the Three Tenors and Luciano Pavarotti’s performance. Lucian Moraru has arranged this famous work for string quartet. He has followed the original score quite closely, but due to the fewer orchestral forces available, it has been simplified. The violin has the soloist’s role and plays the melody line supported by the other three players.

However with occasional counter melodies in the other three parts, each musician has the opportunity to show their technical proficiency and musicianship. The sheet music is user friendly with bowings and fingerings included. There is a score as well as the individual parts written on a single page. Suited to intermediate players and above, it would be easy to learn as it is so well known. A beautiful piece to add to a quartet player’s repertoire.
